Preparing a Backyard for Shed Removal
Back to Helpful GuidesClear a safe route without damaging the garden features you want to keep.

The shed may take up the most space, but the route out of the yard controls how the work moves. Prepare a corridor from the structure to the loading area and identify anything that cannot be moved.
Mark what stays
Point out irrigation heads, low-voltage lighting, drain lines, garden edging, young trees, and fragile planting beds. Move portable pots, furniture, grills, toys, and hoses. If a fence panel may need temporary removal, decide that before the work date.
Check the ground
Soft soil after rain can change whether carts or loaded panels can cross the yard. Note slopes, steps, roots, and drainage swales. Do not promise vehicle access over a lawn until the route has been assessed.
Day-of boundary
- Keep children and pets out of the work area.
- Leave the agreed gate unlocked and the path clear.
- Move vehicles away from the loading position.
- Tell the crew about known utilities and property restrictions.
A clear route protects the parts of the yard that are staying and makes the estimate easier to compare with the finished scope.
